St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge – quick update
I spent the day on the race marshals’ boat yesterday for St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge – a tremendous charity event. Around 40 boats attended, grouped into 4 classes and competitors were rewarded with fine weather – especially for the return leg.
I decided my job was to get at least one really good picture of each boat – to maximise the chance of selling pictures to members of every crew (proceeds go to the charity). The light at the start of the race was overcast and the boats were all over the place, making picking them out for a good shot pretty difficult.
However, late in the afternoon on the finishing line, the boats were arriving back conveniently spaced out and the clouds had cleared out of the way giving some nice light, so getting pictures became much easier – although I haven’t been through the over 500 pictures yet so it’s premature to declare success.
I have quickly picked out one picture to attach to this post – which is the Valkyrie just passing the orange finish marker – with two other boats close behind. More to follow.
