St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge 2012
Regular visitors to this site may recall my involvement in St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge last year. I shot the event again this year and, thanks to some excellent weather, was able to get more great pictures.
I travel on the race marshal’s boat where I get the best view of the start and end of the race. We had a bit of drama this year, though. One of the race officials on our boat was taken ill with a suspected heart attack as we were heading for the start line and we had to divert to a nearby marina where we were met by an ambulance crew.
The unfortunate official was taken away for more tests as we headed back to our route to the race start.
I was later informed that he was recovering.
In spite of being a man short, the officials got the race started on time and it ran smoothly with around forty boats taking part.
Here is a small selection of the nearly 400 pictures taken on the day. These are mostly incidental shots which I quite like. To see the full set and to buy pictures, please go to the events page and enter the code CYC12.
All proceeds from picture sales go to St. Wilfrid’s Hospice and help with the running and administration of the home.
