Free Headshots and Portraits at Business Biscotti

Head-shot

At the next Wokingham Business Biscotti meeting in two weeks on May 29, I shall be installing myself in a corner of the room with some lights and offering free headshots and portraits to the Biscotti members.

The headshots will be ideal for using in your social media profiles but if you want something a bit different you could go for a more traditional portrait sitting – although there’s no need for this to be stuffy. Feel free to ham it up if you want to create something more entertaining.

After the event, pictures will be available to download for free at both web and high resolution with unrestricted use.

The Barberettes sing for Duchess of Kent House Charity

Please come along and support this really great event with the Barberettes singing songs from the 50s through to the 80s in close harmony a capella. The event is raising funds for the Duchess of Kent House charity. It starts tonight at 19:00 and tickets are £10.

The venue is St. Andrew’s Church, Albert Road, Caversham RG4 7PL

I’ll be there getting a few pictures.

Fragile Plays the Music of Yes

tsd_1778

Since my early teens, I’ve been a big fan of the music of the Yes, a band who I consider has a unique style and unmatched for its inventiveness.

When I discovered a local band was playing their music I was pretty sceptical that they’d achieve anything close to an authentic sound.

I first saw them in August last year and a small venue in West London and I was blown away by how good they were. These guys were awesome and their musicianship and mastery of the Yes sound was spellbinding.

I left that first concert quite moved by what I’d experienced.

I’ve been to see them twice since; most recently last night in St. Mary’s Church in Speen, Newbury. An unusual venue for a rock concert but it worked well and the music was brilliant, as ever.

The light wasn’t as brilliant so getting good pictures was a challenge but here are a few. There will be more on my Facebook page later.

If you want to find out more about Fragile and their concert dates their website is here.

The next concert is in Sutton on tomorrow.

Reading Half Marathon for Sue Ryder

I shall be photographing the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday April 1 for charity Sue Ryder. I’m looking forward to it.

Watch here and my page on Facebook for pictures on the day.

Wedding Fair

tsd_0972

I was asked at short notice to attend a wedding fair at the weekend by wedding make-up specialist and artist, Sheila, who wanted to get some shots of her work.

The fair was organised and hosted by Ely Hotel in Blackwater near Camberly. It was only a small affair but there were some interesting people there – including a dressmaker who blew any stereotypes I might have had about dressmakers completely away. She listed power-lifting among her interests and showed me her muscles to prove it.

Her wedding dresses were superb creations.

Sheila had asked a model, the lovely Frankie May who I’ve worked with before, to come along and be a bride for the day. Frankie would be the object of some attention while Sheila demonstrated some bridal make-up. I was asked to photograph the process and the results.

I haven’t had time to go through all the pictures yet but here’s one that stood out. As you can see Sheila is a skilled and talented lady.

I’ll post more later.

The Only Way is Bling Ball

tsd_0131

I had a load of fun shooting The Only Way is Bling Ball on Saturday night at Taplow House. They were a great bunch of people and the venue is beautiful with real character.

The web site promoting the event says dress to impress and there were some lovely outfits on show.

The whole event is to raise money for cancer research so it’s all in a good cause.

The pictures for the ball are now accessible through the Events page. If you were at the ball, please contact the event organiser or email me for the code.

Here is a selection of some of my favourite shots from the evening.

Charity Fit Camp for Robbie the Robot

tsc_9250

This morning saw the gathering of around sixty people for the Charity Fit Camp for Robbie the Robot at Bearwood Rec in Winnersh.

The turn out was excellent considering the chilly morning and there were all ages present working off their Christmas pounds and overcoming the holiday lethargy.

You can find a write-up of the event on FastTrack Fit Camp’s web site along with my pictures.

Wondering around with my camera prevented me taking a full part in the exercises but I still left significantly the better for it.

New Year Charity Fit Camp

dsdn0508

I’m not just photographing this but I’m doing it too.

For the second year, after the success of last year’s event, FastTrack Fit Camp are holding a charity fitness event on Bearwood Rec., in Winnersh.

The event is in aid of the Robbie the Robot Appeal - a charity supporting the operation of robotic assisted key-hole surgery on prostate cancer sufferers.

So here’s a chance to work off those mince pies and Christmas pudding and reverse the decline from sitting around for days, while your muscles whither.

Register for the event here, which takes place on Monday, January 2nd and starts at 10:00. It only lasts 45 minutes and you might just discover a really effective way to keep fit that doesn’t require a gym membership or take hours every week.

Bling Ball

The Bling Ball is an annual fundraising event in aid of Cancer Research held at the magnificent Taplow House Hotel near Maidenhead.

Dress to impress and enjoy fine food and drink with great company and music in sumptuous surroundings.

The event kicks off at 7pm on Saturday January 28th with drinks and I’ll be there photographing portraits of the guests as they arrive.

Treat yourself and do something good for Cancer Research by checking out the Ball’s Web site and ordering tickets.

Use it as a late Christmas present or a treat for business associate or customer.

Oh yes, there’s a raffle, too, with some excellent prizes.

Bollywood Movie Night

Bollywood

Never seen a Bollywood film or seen one and love them? Or would just like to take part in a fun charity event with dressing up and a dance class?

Whatever the reason, why not come to The Forbury Hotel on January 26th at 19:30 for the Bollywood Movie Night?

Come dressed up in traditional Indian dress or a Sari, enjoy the film, which is “Bride and Prejudice” (PG), then take part in the Bollywood style dance class.

The event is in aid or Red Balloon, who care for and educate bullied children.

For more information and tickets, please email sallyann@3munkees.com or call 07774086923.

There’s also a Facebook event page about the evening.

I’ll be there taking portraits on entry and getting a few pictures of the event.

The poster I’ve attached to this post has the wrong date but the other details are correct.
