Welcome to our web site.

This site has a blog format so the home page will be changing constantly to reflect activities we’re involved in, pictures from shoots, events, news from the studio, techniques, testimonials and lots more.

If you’ve not been here before, please visit the Introduction page to find out what we do and review some of our work in the Gallery.

Thanks for taking a look.

Specialist Post Processing

A while ago I shot a sequence for a client who wanted to demonstrate the ease with which their commercial boiler systems were assembled. The sequence was put together into a simple animation which requires only a browser to view.

Someone expressed an interest in this type of service recently so I thought I’d upload it here.

This type of stop-frame animation is a service I’m happy to provide and the results can be used for a variety of purposes. Short animations on your web site can put a simple message across much more vividly then still images or text.

What imaginative uses could you make of this?

Testimonial for a headshot from Debbie

tse_0627

This lovely testimonial arrived from Debbie, a business professional whose headshot I photographed a few days ago.

“I do not consider myself to be photogenic in any way and certainly do not enjoy having my photo taken so I was slightly nervous about my headshot session. However, I need not have worried – Dale put me at ease immediately with his professional but fun nature and the shoot flew by. Most importantly the pictures were excellent and I am really pleased with the results :-)

Thank you Debbie. I’m glad you like your pictures.

Testimonial for a headshot from Claire

I’m grateful for this brief but very satisfying testimonial from Claire, for who I photographed some headshots recently.

“A really lovely experience, lots of laughs and some great pictures! Thank you!”

Thank you Claire.

Fifth Worldwide Photo Walk

Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photo Walk is an annual event now in its fifth year. It’s a charity event but it’s free to enter and all you need is something to take pictures with – even a phone.

There are walks at over 1300 locations around the world and at the last count, there are nearly 26,500 walkers involved. I’m organising the walk in Windsor this year.

The event runs on Saturday October 13 around the world but the start time is picked by the local walk organiser. This means that the event actually spans three days worldwide. There’s a Google+ event page where you can track the event in real time. It’ll be a busy page with thousands of walkers posting pictures as their walk progresses.

We’re starting near the castle at 15:00 and heading into Eton before finishing off in some of the wonderful old side streets in Windsor.

You can find more information about the Windsor walk and register to take part here. Remember, it’s free but you can buy merchandise to support the charity.

St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge 2012

tse_0167

Regular visitors to this site may recall my involvement in St. Wilfrid’s Hospice Coastal Yacht Challenge last year. I shot the event again this year and, thanks to some excellent weather, was able to get more great pictures.

I travel on the race marshal’s boat where I get the best view of the start and end of the race. We had a bit of drama this year, though. One of the race officials on our boat was taken ill with a suspected heart attack as we were heading for the start line and we had to divert to a nearby marina where we were met by an ambulance crew.

The unfortunate official was taken away for more tests as we headed back to our route to the race start.

I was later informed that he was recovering.

In spite of being a man short, the officials got the race started on time and it ran smoothly with around forty boats taking part.

Here is a small selection of the nearly 400 pictures taken on the day. These are mostly incidental shots which I quite like. To see the full set and to buy pictures, please go to the events page and enter the code CYC12.

All proceeds from picture sales go to St. Wilfrid’s Hospice and help with the running and administration of the home.

At the time of writing, the pictures are not yet available to purchase but that should be resolved early tomorrow, I hope.

Winnersh Soft Play Kids’N'Action All Set

After a remarkable few weeks of effort during which a warehouse has been transformed in a multi-interest play area for children, Kids’N'Action in Winnersh is all set to open on Sunday, August 5th.

Roni and Barry Zigner have pulled it off but there were times when I had my doubts that it would all come together in time.

I’ve been popping in two or three times a week to record the progress and there have been occasional complications but the place looks wonderful now.

As well as the monstrous three-level soft climbing frame with three different slides, there is also:

  • an enclosed mini football and basketball area;
  • a separate play area for toddlers;
  • a peddle car driving area with ‘car wash’ for toddlers;
  • a large café where parents can eat, drink real coffee and use the free WiFi while the kids play;
  • a climbing wall;
  • 8 themed party rooms, each with seating for around 16 children – including a glow-in-the dark room with ultra-violet lighting and glowing furniture;
  • a ‘high street’ of shops that kids can play in, including a vets, a grocery shop and a bakery
  • 7 XBox consoles with Kinect.

It’s not surprising that the few kids who have had a chance to preview the facilities didn’t want to leave.

The fun starts for real at 09:30 on Sunday August 5th at 680 Eskdale Road in what is now called Winnersh IQ. Head for the Holiday Inn and turn left into Eskdale Road then follow the road around the right hand bend and take the next right into Borrowdale Road. First left is the car park for Kids’N'Action.

Kids’N'Action web site is here.

Charity Rock Night for Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline

The Newbury Rock School are hosting a very special event on Saturday, July 28 at The Waterside Centre in Newbury in honour and support of Chernobyl Children’s Life Line charity.

It’s an evening of live rock music featuring some local favourite bands, including the inspirational The Mini Band, New Device, The Jammin’ Dodgers and Tin Soldiers.

The charity exists to help kids from areas stricken by the disaster at Chernobyl and does it in a number of ways, one of which is to bring them to the UK for recuperation breaks where the relief from constant exposure to radiation can add months and maybe years to their lives.

A group of eight of these kids will be attending this event as their farewell party before they go back home.

Please click the link for more information on the charity. There is a Facebook page for this event here: Newbury Rock School’s Charity Rock Night for Chernobyl Children’s Life Line

The event kicks off at 17:00 and is free to enter but organisers would appreciate donations to support the charity.

I shall be there photographing the event.

I’ve photographed and blogged about The Mini Band several times before.

Studio Day with Model Esprit

Esprit-fb

I’m involved in helping organise a studio day with a fine, experienced model from Wales, Esprit (I think that’s pronounced espree but she might have other ideas), at a small studio in Henley-on-Thames.

Photographers of all standards are invited to book hour long sessions with this excellent model for a very reasonable fee. Tuition to help with using a studio and lighting is available for a small amount extra.

This is a rare opportunity to improve your skills and get some fantastic shots for your portfolio at a real bargain price.

For full details, please see the flyer here. For bookings, please email me.

Local Businesses You Can Trust

I’ve been meaning to put a page like this together for a long time. It’s not finished yet and may never be but here’s a start: Businesses you can trust.
